The first international conference on the subject of "Kaleidoscope of Child Maltreatment" will take place from June 26-28, 2011, at the University of Haifa.

The conference was initiated by Prof. Zvi Eisikovits and Prof. Rachel Lev of the Center for the Study of Society at the University of Haifa and Prof. Hillel Schmid, Director of the Haruv Institute and one of the founders of the Schusterman Foundation. Additional sponsors include the Traiana Company, the Haifa Municipality, the Ministry of Welfare, the ministry of Health, the Internal Security Ministry, Clalit Health Services, Yachdav Association, and Aminut.

The goal of the conference is to raise public awareness of the complex issues related to child maltreatment, including the sheer volume of possible characteristics, reporting crimes, and providing counseling for the various types of abuse of children and youth. The conference further seeks to shrink the knowledge gaps in this field in order to create policy change and new ways of dealing with this dangerous trend.

The conference will take place over three days. The first day will be devoted to workshops, and the second and third days will include lectures and parallel plenary sessions on a range of subjects from international experts.

Approximately 800 participants are expected to take part in the conference, most of whom are professionals in the field, service providers of in the fields of welfare, law, health, education, and law enforcement, as well as researchers, academics, members of the media, government ministers, members of Knesset, public officials, and private companies.

We would be delighted if you would join us for the conference whose lectures and discussions will advance the issues of preventing violence and caring for at-risk youth in general, and child victims of abuse in particular.

We are proud to announce a special offer for all the participants in the International Conference - "Kaleidoscope of Child Maltreatment"!

Participants will receive free access to the online version of the Journal of Child & Adolescent Trauma, and a reduced rate on the Journal of Child Sexual Abuse and the Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment & Trauma for the remainder of 2011.
